I am sad to say that Moments of Tranquility Shop has been closed for good.
I am grateful for the years of support and kindness that I have received. :o)

If you are here looking for Dusty Attic chipboard... DON'T PANIC!
You can now purchase Dusty Attic chipboard directly from the manufacturer HERE.

Hey there!  I'm back to share a layout I made using two older collections by Maja Design - Vintage Autumn Basic and Vintage Summer Basics.  I keep a stash of these papers on hand because the colors and designs are right up my alley.

The photo is of my daughter taken a few years back.  I can't believe how much she has grown since then!  It's inevitable, of course, but the older the kids get, the older I feel.  :o(
The photo is adorned with white flowers by Prima, handmade flowers using Donna Salazar's Bitty Blossom dies and blue mulberry flowers.

I added texture and a touch of color to the background paper using the Tile Texture stencil by The Crafter's Workshop and a Liquitex medium mixed with ink.

This gorgeous chipboard design is part of the Wrought Iron Design Set by The Dusty Attic.  It's one of my favorites and can be purchased HERE along with loads of other designs.  I punched and stitched the border of my layout to add more texture and interest.

The tile is made up of chipboard from Mini Words #2 and Word Pack #4 by The Dusty Attic.  I embossed the title using embossing powder by Lindy's Stamp Gang.  This embossing powder has a gorgeous pearl finish with reflective color properties.

That's it for today!  Thanks for stopping by and see ya next time!

Hey there!  I'm back again to share a box that I altered.  This box is a mache hat box by Darice.  They make boxes in all shapes and sizes as well as other designs.  I like the quality and sturdiness of their products.

The first step I usually take when altering an item is to brush a very thin, uneven layer of white gesso onto the surface.  This provides a nice base that will help colors stand out and a surface that mediums and inks can adhere to.

I tore up tissue paper (any tissue paper used for gifting that does not have a waxy texture to it) into random sizes and shapes and crumpled each piece to give it a wrinkled texture.  Then I adhered the pieces to the box using Matte Glue n Seal by Inkssentials (Mod Podge will work as well... matte Mod Podge is best), overlapping the pieces and keeping the wrinkles apparent.  I also stuck random-sized pieces of printed tissue tape to add a little interest.

Once the box and lid were covered with tissue, I sprayed several different ink colors to the surface and allowed to dry.  After, I dry-brushed an almost non-existent layer of white gesso to the entire surface with a very light hand.  The point of this is not to cover the color we just added but to highlight the lovely wrinkles and creases.

I adorned the cover and sides with an array of different flowers by Prima and Green Tara.

Then I accented the flowers with Dusty Attic chipboard that I altered with paint, ink and embossing powder.  You can see a list of the chipboard items I used in the product list below and they can be purchased HERE.

Altering boxes is probably my favorite type of project.  Aside from being fairly simple to do, I can let my imagination run wild because the possibilities are endless!

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Until next time!
